Video Model’s Hair Catches On Fire!

Video Model’s Hair Catches On Fire!.

New Additions, Shout outs, & More!

What’s up internet fam! I’m here again with ANOTHER random post! This time it’s full of good news, usual shout outs, and other cool stuff!

So like the title says, there are some new additions to the Gradient Eyes crew!

DJ Bori and Spaz worked with us a few years back in the Fuego Podcast days so when they asked to get put on with the Know the UNKNWN blog and the Ritmo Mundial all-Spanish blog we was like, “Fa’ sho!” Anywho, DJ Bori just did his first post on Ritmo Mundial today and you guys will be seeing Spaz in the near future!

In other news, I would like to give a shout out to Callejera who’s been working hard to keep us updated on the whole Spanish music scene.  Also a big thanks to Big L Productions, BB inc, Public ENT, and all the others who support us on a regular basis.

Now I said I had some cool stuff for y’all right!? So, here at Know The UNKNWN I like to “Put people on…” which means I like to introduce people I know that have skills in music, art, etc. This person I’m “putting on” today is one of my fellow classmates! He has our official Gradient Eyes Productions & UNKNWN Ent. stamp of approval!

Here’s what Spaz & Bori had to say:

“Yo, my son! Y’all can’t say he didn’t go in!…” (Spaz)
“Man he killed it though. Definitely got the GE.SF Productions approval!” (DJ Bori)

Check it out for yourself & hit up that comment box with your thoughts!!

Rick Ross, Chrisette Michele, And Hip Hop’s Misrepresentation

I was reading one of my most favorite blog sites: Necolebitchie.com, and came across an article about Chrisette Michele’s feelings towards Rick Ross going M.I.A. at the Soul Train Awards. If you don’t know the story, here’s what happened:

Rick Ross lost an award to Eminem and decided to walk out! Chrisette sent him a text out of concern but Ricky Ross The Big Boss never replied! The two were supposed to perform their new hit, “Aston Martin Music” featuring Drake. According to Chrisette, the performance was not only going to help her record sales but shed a positive light on Hip Hop in the eyes of Corporate America.

She tweeted about her disappointment and how the music community specifically R&B Soul and Hip Hop represents itself. The tweet did not reference Rick Ross but in a recent interview, she does confirm it was sparked by that incident.

I agree with Chrisette, as a community that has struggled to even get recognition and respect on a world wide scale, one cannot let loosing stop them, especially abruptly like in the case with Rick Ross. So what if you loose? That’s not the point! As an artist it should be about showing your fans and the world your talent and what you stand for. Maybe he’s just a sore loser? Who knows! Ricky Ross needs to step it up big time. I have a lot of love for him and hopefully he learns a valuable lesson from this experience.

Here’s Cherry Martinez’s interview with Chrisette courtesy of BitchieTV!

Mixtapes anyone?

So I’m back in action but I don’t know what to post about (as usual!) however, I have a lot of cool finds to share with you all. Shout out to the fact that I have over 260 views with no promotion! By the way, only two people I know have contributed to those views and they definitely only visited the site twice so don’t even say “oh well you’re just telling the people you know to read your blog and hit it up a lot!” because that is extremely untrue.

Anyways, back to the post. My beloved Mad Decent website has a new place to get mixtapes!!! Click here to check it out!

Put Your Clothes Back On Kanye

Kanye, Kanye, Kanye, What Crazy Thing Are You Going To Do Next?

What’s goodie yall. Back with another post about the craziness found within pop culture nowadays! Before I begin, shout out to the 250 something views so far!!! This blog has only been up for maybe a month or so and despite the lack of marketing & promotion, Know the Unknwn is doing pretty well.

Back to the topic… If you haven’t heard, Kanye West supposedly sent pictures of him in the nude to multiple women and now the pictures are being leaked! First off, what the hell are you doing Kanye? I know you said that if you worked out for a while you would pose nude and stuff but come on! Take a look at the picture below. Mr.West  doesn’t look horrible but he should have just stopped at shirtless pics.

Kanye on cover of French magazine

I think after the death of his mom Kanye went off the deep end a little. There are some things you just CAN’T and SHOULD NOT do when you are famous. Sending naked photos to females via phone, email, or any other technological invention is one of those things.

Go cop Runaway though. I hear it’s pretty good.

Kanye West. Get Smart Bro. Keep Your Clothes On. Stay Away From The Nude Pictures. Oh And Twitter Too. Just Kidding About The Latter.

Throw Back Thursday

What’s good y’all? I’m here to take anyone over the age of 25 way back. I’m talking 1990’s Bonita Applebum “You gotta put me on…” back! Took a bit of a break on the music but I’m back to hit you with some old school hip hop joints!

So, I have been soul searching lately and something told me to search “A Tribe Called Quest” in YouTube’s search bar. By doing so, I have found what I think is the most live playlist ever! There was some Digable Planets, Pharcyde, Gang Starr, Busta Ryhmes, and more. I was jammin’ for hours.

Anyway, here’s my top 5 throw-back joints from the late 80’s & 90’s. It’s super legit so hop on ’em quick! Don’t know if this is going to be a weekly occurrence but I will definitely be dropping in with some old school hip hop classics often.

1. Electric Relaxation – A Tribe Called Quest

2. Bonita Applebum – A Tribe Called Quest

3. Mass Appeal – Gang Starr

4. Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like That) – Digable Planets

5. California Dreamin’ – Dream Warriors

Of course I have more favorites but, I want you explore and find throw backs of your own.

Thinking About The Weekend Already?

It’s the end of a long Tuesday and I am already daydreaming of the weekend. According to a couple of my party people sources, there are going to be some good performances this weekend in San Francisco. Also I got some info for some events happening on the East Coast as well!

Check it out!

Saturday, September 11th Too $hort will be at the Mezzanine in SF. Doors open at 9pm and it’s $35 for regular admission and $50 for VIP. It’s a little up there in the price range but, who knows, Too $hort may be worth the extra cash. Hit up http://www.mezzaninesf.com/calendar.asp for more info & to buy tickets!

Now for you Latin music lovers like myself, Bachata singer Prince Royce will be in town!

This Saturday he will be performing at Roccapulco. I think the doors open at 8pm but I honestly haven’t been able to find much info on this one so for sure hit Google up if your interested in knowing more.

NOW, for my East Coast folks:

Thank Me Later

I have been obsessively  playing a copy of Drake’s Thank Me Later for the past week so it is only proper that I do a review of the CD. How I obtained the CD, don’t worry about it, but put it this way, I just went out and actually bought it. Did I say I bought it? Yes! Go buy Drake’s CD; he did an excellent job considering the garbage that so-called “artists” put out nowadays.

Thank Me Later starts out with one of my favorite tracks, “Fireworks” featuring Alicia Keys.

Take a listen here! Fireworks By Drake ft. Alicia Keys

Sounds good huh? Wait, there’s more! Drake continues to “build up a better rapport…” with stimulating tracks like “Karaoke” and “Show Me A Good Time”. “Over”, “Fancy”, “Find Your Love”, and now “Miss Me” featuring the Young Money King himself: Lil Wayne have been played numerously on the radio so when I heard them on Thank Me Later I already knew the words. Knowing the words to these songs set off the perfect balance between the known and the unknown.

As for the other seven tracks I have failed to mention, I am absolutely speechless. You know why? Because every single song on Drake’s brilliant showcase of talent that we call a CD, I love! I enjoyed every song. Surprising but, true. Sometimes I’m lucky to even  find three or four decent songs on an artist’s CD so when I listened to Thank Me Later, I was expecting the same yet received the opposite.

I can proudly say, GO BUY THAT DAMN CD Y’ALL…
